JTervals does not collect, store, share or sell any of your personal or health data. It has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it never connects to the internet.
JTervals is an interval and paced-run timer for Apple Watch, made by JonnyP Industries LTD. This policy explains what the app does with your information: in short, everything stays on your devices, under your control.
JTervals uses Apple Health (HealthKit) only with your permission, which you give or refuse when you first start a workout. The timer works fully even if you say no.
| What | Read or write | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Workouts | Write | Saves each session you choose to keep as a workout (an Outdoor Run in Intervals and Paced mode, an indoor HIIT workout in Trainer mode), so it counts toward your Activity rings and appears in the Fitness app |
| Workout route | Write | Saves the GPS track of an Intervals or Paced session you keep, so the Fitness app can show it on a map |
| Distance | Read | Shows how far you have gone during an Intervals or Paced workout (and your pace in a Paced run), and in the summary |
| Heart rate | Read | Shows your live heart rate during a workout and your average afterwards |
| Active energy (calories) | Read | Shows the calories burned in the workout summary |
| Activity summary (rings) | Read | Part of the workout session; not stored or shared by the app |
This data is stored by Apple Health on your Apple Watch, and Apple syncs it to your iPhone's Health app. JTervals never sends it anywhere else, and the developer never sees it. If you tap Discard at the end of a session, nothing is saved to Health.
Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never shared with third parties.
With your permission, which it asks for the first time you start an Intervals or Paced workout, JTervals uses your Apple Watch's location (GPS) while one of those workouts is running, and only then. Trainer mode is an indoor workout and never uses your location. It uses it for two things: your distance and pace on the screen, and the route saved with the workout in Apple Health, which the Fitness app draws on a map. The route is stored by Apple Health on your devices like the rest of your workout, is never sent anywhere else, and the developer never sees it. If you say no, the timer works as before, without pace, distance or a map.
JTervals remembers your last timer settings for each mode (warm-up, active and rest times, sets, groups, run length, target pace and leeway), your Beeps, Haptics and Voice switches, your voice type, tap strength and Louder voice choices, and your choice of miles or kilometres. The spoken cues are generated on the watch itself. It also keeps a log of the workouts you save (date, time, sets, distance, calories, heart rate and, for Paced, target, pace, splits and the pace of each minute), which you can view, share as text through the watch's share sheet, and delete in the app. These are stored only on your Apple Watch and are removed when you delete the app.
The app contains no third-party code, advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools, and does not track you across other apps or websites. No data is sold or shared.
If you have opted in to share analytics with app developers in your Apple settings, Apple may give the developer anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. Apple controls this, under Apple's Privacy Policy, and you can turn it off at any time on your iPhone in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
JTervals collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
